JSCMU-Chapter 9: Entry-Level Sword Technique
by Jun JunSi Wanning sensed it, as soon as Yun Jin stepped outside.
She was about to stop her sword practice and greet Yun Jin.
But instead, Yun Jin turned right back inside again.
The next moment.
She saw her little junior sister drag out a chair and a table, then leisurely brew herself a pot of tea!
Next to the tea, she even placed a bag of sunflower seeds.
Sip a bit of tea.
Crack a few seeds.
She looked utterly at ease and comfortable!
“Emotion Points +20.”
Yun Jin blinked.
Ah, Second Senior Sister had noticed her.
But, she was thick-skinned, so she didn’t care.
Yun Jin shamelessly continued watching Si Wanning practice her swordsmanship.
Si Wanning finally finished a round of training and was just as she was about to speak.
Yun Jin had already enthusiastically handed over a cup of tea, “Second Senior Sister, sword training must be exhausting. Come, have some tea to quench your thirst.”
Feeling satisfied, Si Wanning accepted it and sipped slowly, and finally asked, “Do you like watching me practice swordsmanship?”
“Senior Sister’s sword technique is absolutely exquisite, I was completely mesmerized.” Yun Jin looked at her eagerly. “Can you demonstrate it again for me?”
Si Wanning looked a little proud, “Our Master is the Peak Lord of Heavenly Sword Peak and was once famed for his swordsmanship. As his disciple, how could I not be proficient in sword arts? Sword techniques in the cultivation world are ranked into four levels: Tian, De, Xuan, and Huang.
Tian level techniques exist only in the four great Holy Lands. For ordinary sects like ours, it’s not even worth thinking about.
De level techniques are usually the core treasures of a sect. In our Tianxing Sect, there is only one De level manual, and it’s a sword technique called the Azure Lotus Sword Technique. But it’s too difficult. No one in the sect has ever mastered it.”
“As disciples, the highest we can typically access are Xuan level techniques. My sword technique is called the Lotus Blossom Sword Technique, and it’s a mid-level Xuan manual. Since you’ve just entered the sect and don’t yet have any sword foundation, you should first train in the basics. Once you’re proficient, begin with the lowest Huang level techniques. Only after you master those could you even consider trying a Xuan level technique.”
Si Wanning was kindly explaining to Yun Jin the basic common knowledge of the cultivation world.
Yun Jin wasn’t unfamiliar with this. If she were training the normal way, this was indeed the right path to follow.
However…
Her current cultivation method was anything but normal.
Yun Jin simply smiled and said, “Senior Sister, I never expected to actually learn it. I just think it looks beautiful and want to admire it a bit more.”
Si Wanning laughed, “Alright then, I’ll perform it for you once more!”
Si Wanning flew down gracefully, her frost-blue sword glowing with radiant light. Faintly, six lotus petals shimmered around her.
Yun Jin understood that this meant Si Wanning had reached the sixth level of the Lotus Blossom Sword Technique.
This also meant that by watching her, Yun Jin could only progress up to the sixth level herself.
To go further, she would either need to observe someone of higher skill, or simplify the technique again!
But for now, Yun Jin wasn’t in a rush. Her goal was simply to reach the entry level.
“Senior Sister is both elegant and beautiful, her swordsmanship is equally graceful and refined. I could watch this forever.”
“Such a beautiful technique, and such a beautiful person! To have a senior sister like you, I must’ve accumulated blessings over several lifetimes!”
“Amazing! Second Senior Sister, I practically worship you. How did you master such a profound technique? If it were me, my brain would be a total mess!”
Yun Jin kept pouring flattery into Si Wanning’s ears. Si Wanning, coaxed into a daze, kept repeating her sword practice over and over again.
At first, Si Wanning was quite pleased.
Of course! Her swordsmanship was this exquisite, how many years had it been since anyone last truly appreciated it? Now that she has a little junior sister, her talent is finally being recognized.
But…
It’s been five training repetitions.
Si Wanning’s wrist was starting to ache, and her expression grew hesitant.
Th-this…
Did she have to keep practicing?
She could barely lift her arm anymore!
After ten training repetitions.
Si Wanning began to question her entire existence.
Was her swordsmanship really that profound, that fascinating?
Although her little junior sister loved watching her practice, and while she did feel flattered…
She was also exhausted from all that training!
Meanwhile, Yun Jin was just off to the side, drinking tea and cracking sunflower seeds…This is somehow mildly infuriating.
Si Wanning clenched her teeth and managed to finish the tenth training repetition.
She had already made up her mind.
If Yun Jin dared to ask her to demonstrate again, she would absolutely refuse!
“Xiao Jin!” Si Wanning quickly took the initiative and opened her mouth first.
“Senior Sister, you’ve worked so hard demonstrating all these times just because I wanted to see the sword technique. It was my fault. I don’t know why, I just couldn’t get enough of watching. I was wrong. Here, come sit down and have some tea and sunflower seeds. You need to rest.” Yun Jin smiled sweetly and obediently.
Perfect! That made ten training repetitions!
A notification echoed in her mind:
“You have observed ten instances of sword technique demonstration. Lotus Blossom Sword Technique has been unlocked at entry level.”
On her panel, a new skill had appeared:
“Lotus Blossom Sword Technique – Level 1 (Entry Level 1%)”
Yun Jin raised an eyebrow slightly. If she wanted to increase her proficiency, she would have to keep watching the sword technique. But Second Senior Sister was clearly at her limit, it was better to ease off for now and slowly work toward it.
Si Wanning accepted the tea Yun Jin handed over, visibly touched.
Sob sob sob.
Such a sweet little junior sister.
She must have realized that she was tired, and even though she wanted to watch more, she had held herself back.
So this is what it’s like to have a little junior sister…?
Si Wanning took a generous sip and said heroically, “This is nothing, Junior Sister! If you like watching, I’ll do another ten training sessions later!”
“Thank you, Senior Sister!” Yun Jin agreed without hesitation.
Si Wanning: “???”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted it.
Before she could take it back, Yun Jin had already accepted.
Si Wanning’s face twisted into several expressions before she finally forced out a smile, “Ahaha… don’t mention it… really, don’t…”
Though her words were casual, her whole face screamed dread.
Honestly.
She’d been slacking off for a few years.
There was no helping it. With their master in such a condition, all their resources had been taken away. If any of them showed even a little promise, they’d get targeted behind the scenes.
They couldn’t even tell their master about it. All they could do was lie flat and muddle through, hoping that once their master was no longer the Peak Lord of Heavenly Sword Peak, maybe the Sect Master would ease up on them, and things might improve.
But now, after slacking off for so long, she suddenly had to perform her sword technique ten times in a row. Si Wanning felt like she had hit her absolute limit.
Still… she couldn’t go back on her word to her junior sister.
Si Wanning was wearing a very troubled expression.
“Second Junior Sister, Little Junior Sister—” Suddenly, a lazy voice sounded from nearby. It was Yue Zhao.
Si Wanning’s eyes lit up instantly like she had just seen her savior!
“Senior Brother! I missed you so much!” she said with complete sincerity.
Yue Zhao was stunned. He instinctively shielded his collar, “Although your Senior Brother is dashing, elegant, and irresistibly charming, I’m entirely focused on cultivation! There’s no future between us!”
Si Wanning: “… Heh.”
