AMSSO-Chapter 97: A Bit Forward
by Jun JunFeeling the increase of spiritual power within their bodies, everyone grew excited.
“There really is spiritual energy in this!”
“My cultivation has improved a little!”
“The absorption is so fast!”
They were all thrilled.
To absorb spiritual energy from the outside world and transform it into one’s own spiritual power wasn’t an easy process.
Normally, they had to spend quite some time guiding the energy slowly into the dantian, then letting it flow gradually throughout the limbs and meridians.
The process was like leading a group of unruly children into school, teaching them until they matured, then sending them out into the world.
But along the way, some of those “children” might run off halfway.
And the process of “becoming educated” was never smooth.
However, the “children” inside this cup of spiritual tea were especially obedient, they were “diligent students”! They entered the “school” willingly and quickly mastered their lessons on their own!
This was far faster than their usual cultivation speed!
Everyone was overjoyed.
The tea brewed from these spiritual tea leaves was too incredible!
—Though it didn’t make it any less bitter.
Even now, a faint bitterness still lingered in their mouths.
But that didn’t stop their growing affection for the tea!
If they were children, they might complain about the taste. But they were adults now!
As long as something was good for their bodies and beneficial for cultivation, no matter how bad it tasted, it’s a treasure!
At once, everyone crowded around Mu Shiyue, “Master, you’re amazing!”
“Master, I was wrong, I misunderstood you!”
“Master is indeed Master!”
“So this is the correct method of tea roasting! I understand now!”
“Master—”
“Sect Master Mu—”
“Master—”
Hearing the flood of praise and flattery, Mu Shiyue’s head was about to explode.
She really just improvised!
These past few days, she’d been at home playing with the cubs. They were adorable, but she’d gotten a little bored and wanted to try something new.
Then they brought back that spiritual tea tree, and her curiosity was piqued.
She just wanted to have some fun roasting a few leaves.
Whether it turned out drinkable or not, she hadn’t thought that far.
—After all, they’re tea leaves. Even if roasted poorly, they wouldn’t be poisonous.
She had just recently broken through to Nascent Soul Stage, and she wanted to “celebrate” together with everyone.
Who could’ve guessed it would turn out like this?!
“Master—”
“Stop!”
Mu Shiyue raised her hand to silence them, “Stop talking already!”
Everyone immediately fell quiet, but their eyes stayed fixed on her, full of admiration and devotion.
As expected of their Master, everything she did had meaning!
They had truly misunderstood her before!
Seeing their expressions, Mu Shiyue’s head hurt even worse.
“I was just joking with you. I’ve never roasted tea leaves before…”
“Master, you’re incredible!” Chu Jingzhuo clapped his hands enthusiastically. “It’s your first time roasting tea and you achieved such results! You really are amazing!”
The others joined in, clapping and praising one after another, “Yes, Master is incredible!”
“This was Master’s first time roasting tea? Indeed a genius!”
“Master, that joke was a good one! The tea really was bitter, we were almost scared off by the taste!”
“It’s us who failed to recognize its worth. Next time, we’ll never doubt Master’s judgment again!”
“That’s right, Master! We’ll always listen to you! If you say east, we’ll never go west!”
Mu Shiyue: “…”
The conversation had come full circle. Listening to their endless flattery made her head throb.
Were her disciples a bit too blindly devoted towards her?
Judging from how they spoke, if she brought out something even scarier next time, they’d probably drink it without hesitation!
Tsk, what a headache!
“Master, should I help you store these tea leaves?”
As the one in charge of logistics in the sect, Qin Yiwei stared fixedly at the roasted tea leaves.
Unlike her earlier look of horror and dread, her eyes now brimmed with deep affection, as though gazing at her dearest lover.
The others expression looked about the same.
These spiritual tea leaves were treasures!
Ke Chongbo’s eyes brightened suddenly, an idea flashing through his mind.
—He could buy tea leaves from Mu Shiyue!
Ke Chongbo was no stranger to fine goods, he knew exactly how valuable these tea leaves were.
Spiritual tea leaves were considered a type of natural treasure.
Some treasures only suited cultivators of specific levels.
The higher one’s cultivation, the rarer and fewer the items that could still benefit them.
But spiritual tea leaves could be consumed by anyone, young or old, man or woman, though the effects varied from person to person.
His parents were both at Spirit Severing Stage, and the spiritual tea they drank was extremely expensive.
He’d tasted his parents’ treasured teas before, but even those were nowhere near as effective as this one!
If his parents could drink this, they’d definitely be pleased!
Of course, in terms of taste, Mu Shiyue’s roasted tea was unbearably bitter.
But what cultivators cared about was spiritual energy, not flavor!
Mu Shiyue’s tea completely crushed anything made by those tea masters!
So Ke Chongbo wanted to bring some home.
Even if his parents didn’t like it, his older brother could drink it!
—Of course, his parents would absolutely love it.
But as soon as he opened his mouth, he glanced at the small pile of tea leaves that was less than half a pound and closed it again.
There were several people in Wanxuan Sect, if each drank just a little every day, it still wouldn’t last long.
If he asked to buy some now, that would be a bit forward.
But soon, his eyes lit up again.
—He could ask Mu Shiyue to roast tea leaves for them!
His parents owned a few tea trees. They didn’t roast the leaves themselves and always hired alchemists to do it.
Each batch cost a hefty fee, yet the results were never impressive.
Instead of letting those people ruin the tea leaves, why not have Mu Shiyue roast it?
Still, he hesitated.
Suddenly making such a request would be far too forward.
His mother had told him before that Mu Shiyue was definitely a powerful senior.
For someone like that, he couldn’t just throw money at her, it might seem like he was insulting her!
With that thought, the light in Ke Chongbo’s eyes dimmed again.
Watching Ke Chongbo’s expression flicker between bright and gloomy, Meng Fanzé asked curiously, “What’s wrong with you? Feeling unwell?”
“No.” Ke Chongbo snapped out of it and quickly shook his head.
“Caw—!”
The Black Abyss Falcon’s cry interrupted them.
“Senior Black Abyss Falcon—who are those people?!”
Ke Chongbo finally noticed the few figures pinned under its claws.
Seeing the men lying on the ground, he blinked.
This scene… looked a bit familiar!
“They’re the Golden Core Stage cultivators who tried to assassinate my mother,” Chu Jingzhuo said coldly.
“The assassins who went after your mother? All Golden Core?” Ke Chongbo was shocked, but then realized why it felt so familiar.
Hadn’t he just been hunted by Golden Core cultivators not long ago himself?
“Yes, all Golden Core,” Chu Jingzhuo replied, his expression dark.
He looked at them with a dangerous glint.
This matter couldn’t just be let go.
If his mother hadn’t been lucky, she might already be dead!
Ke Chongbo suddenly asked, “Which family sent them?”
The question came so abruptly that Chu Jingzhuo answered reflexively, “The Chu Family.”
“The Chu Family? Which Chu Family? The one in Fenghuan City or Mingtai City?”
“Fenghuan City.”
“So it’s them! That’s too much!” Ke Chongbo slapped his thigh angrily. “We can’t just let this go!”
