AMSSO-Chapter 72: Ecological Cycle
by Jun JunAfter several days, life for everyone in Wanxuan Sect was extremely comfortable.
They still continued cultivating every day, but they’d do so while holding the little cubs.
They also confirmed that cultivating while holding the little cubs greatly increased efficiency.
Compared to cultivating on their own, it cut the time in half!
Thankfully, there’re three cubs in total, so the few of them could take turns holding them.
Little Sesame had already been held before. With Jiang Yunnuan preparing toys and Purple Gold Bamboo, it obediently let everyone hold it, happily playing with toys and munching bamboo, acting more well-behaved than a stuffed doll.
Tiger Baby, suppressed by its biological mother, could only obediently be held.
But it still had a temper. If it’s in the middle of playing, it won’t let anyone touch it.
However, once it got tired of playing, it would randomly climb into someone’s arms and fall asleep with its eyes closed.
As for Ah Lang, it’s just a gentle and obedient little cutie, fine with being petted or even ridden.
Although Ah Lang was still young, its size wasn’t small at all, almost reaching their waist.
And its load-bearing ability was strong enough that even if several of them rode on its back, it’d still be fine.
Of course, no one would do that to it.
It’s still a cub, it needs to be carefully cherished.
After a few days, the three cubs got along quite well.
If they were still in the Myriad Beast Forest, they would probably fight each other.
But here, they’re playmates.
Under Mu Shiyue’s guidance, the cubs even learned how to play together.
Ah Lang would kick the leather ball away, and Tiger Baby and Little Sesame would go running to fetch it.
The three baby beasts played happily, and their relationship grew closer.
Even the Spotted Spirit Cow was living quite well here.
At first, it had been terrified when brought over.
But after staying for a bit, it realized that life here was actually pretty good.
The Spotted Spirit Cow was a herbivore, and it had grasses it preferred to eat.
To ensure it could live comfortably here, Mu Shiyue had the disciples plant grass.
The Spotted Spirit Cow’s favorite grass was Plain Silver Seedling Grass.
Plain Silver Seedling Grass was also a spiritual herb, though each stalk contained only a little spiritual energy. It usually grew in large patches.
The Spotted Spirit Cow needed to eat a lot at once in order to get enough energy.
There’re many types of grass in Myriad Beast Forest besides Plain Silver Seedling Grass.
But who told it to become a wet nurse?
To let the cow replenish enough spiritual energy, Mu Shiyue had the disciples start farming grass.
And to grow it quickly, she decided to make some fertilizer.
Mu Shiyue ordered everyone, including beasts, to relieve themselves in fixed locations. They would collect all the excrement, ferment it, and use it to grow Plain Silver Seedling Grass.
When they first heard this decision, both people and beasts were dumbfounded and shocked.
They had never done anything like this before!
Before Foundation Establishment, Xin Jinrui and the others did need to relieve themselves, but they just picked any latrine and buried their waste in a hole.
After Foundation Establishment, they could live on fasting pills.
While fasting, they didn’t need to relieve themselves at all.
But after being brainwashed by Mu Shiyue’s constant repetitions of “Three Parts Poison in Every Pill”, they started eating normally again.
They ate far less frequently than their master. After all, their ability to endure hunger was much stronger now.
A single meal could sustain them for one to two days.
But after eating, they still needed to use the toilet.
Still, it had never occurred to them that the waste they excreted could be used like this!
As for Hu Niu, it was utterly baffled.
It’s a dignified Soul-Devouring Tiger, why should it have to poop in a designated location?!
But Mu Shiyue was firm.
“This is proper ecological recycling, environmentally friendly and non-polluting. What’s not to love?”
In her previous life, besides wanting to open a pig farm, she had also dreamed of running an eco-park.
The pigs would produce manure, the manure would fertilize vegetables and fruit trees, and the vegetables and fruits would feed both pigs and humans.
—A perfect closed-loop ecological cycle.
Even though this world was different from her first life, she could still implement it here!
Everything they ate was filled with spiritual energy, so their waste naturally contained spiritual energy too.
Wouldn’t that be a return to nature?
For someone with a rural dream, this was the perfect system!
“We’ll use fertilizer to grow Plain Silver Seedling Grass for the Spotted Spirit Cow, then it’ll produce milk for us. Isn’t that great?”
Mu Shiyue explained her ecological system, leaving the disciples dumbstruck.
Qin Yiwei, having grown up in the countryside, had experience with farm fertilizer and quickly agreed.
“I think it’s a great idea! Let’s do it!”
She had done such things before, but after stepping onto the path of cultivation, she’d never considered it again.
After all, which cultivator would bother with such mundane tasks?
Cultivators just set up a Spirit-Gathering Array and plant things using spiritual qi!
But hearing their master, she found it made perfect sense.
The Soul-Devouring Tiger and Spotted Spirit Cow were huge, so they produced enormous amounts of manure.
It had to be put to good use!
With Qin Yiwei’s support, no one else objected.
They had no experience in such matters, but their master is always right!
As for Hu Niu, its opinion didn’t matter.
Mu Shiyue simply said, “If you won’t help feed the Spotted Spirit Cow, then who will nurse your child?”
She followed with, “You eat so much and you poop a lot! How hard is it to pick a fixed spot? If it’s too hard, raise your child yourself!”
Hu Niu: “……”
Shocked into silence, the tiger reluctantly obeyed.
Nursing its child was absolutely impossible, but going to a fixed toilet wasn’t something too troublesome.
And so, Mu Shiyue successfully regulated everyone and every beast.
Even the cubs were trained to poop in designated areas.
Oh—and Black Abyss Falcon and the flock of chickens, ducks, and geese too.
Birds were normally incontinent, but Black Abyss Falcon, not being a common bird, could control its own bowels.
And so, Mu Shiyue dragged it over.
She instructed, “If you’re going to stay here, you can’t freeload.”
Thus, Black Abyss Falcon became a poultry herder.
Yes, a poultry herder.
It could fly high and had great vision.
Once it spread its wings and released its pressure, the chickens, ducks, and geese instantly became obedient.
With its help, the poultry learned to hold it in and walk to designated spots before relieving themselves.
Oh—and they even obediently returned to their nests to lay eggs.
Black Abyss Falcon saved everyone an incredible amount of effort.
Originally, with so many birds, Xin Jinrui and the others had no idea how to handle them.
If released, they’d run into the forest and get lost, isn’t that very troublesome?
But if caged, their meat wouldn’t taste as good!
With Black Abyss Falcon around, the problem was perfectly solved.
The birds no longer dared to run off, they only moved within a fixed range.
And so, they remained true free-range poultry!
Everyone gathered all the waste and weeds from Wanxuan Sect, fermented them into fertilizer, and used them to plant grass.
And they really did grow a vast field of Plain Silver Seedling Grass!
